IAU Note on Rankings Released
Following discussions on university rankings held during the 93rd IAU Administrative Board Meeting in Qatar, the IAU Administrative Board reviewed the UNU Statement on Global University Rankings developed by an Independent Expert Group (IEG) convened by the United Nations University International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH).
Building on this work, a team of experts—initially led by IAU Board Members Professor Henk Kummeling, former Rector of Utrecht University, and Professor Patrick Dean, Principal and President of Queen’s University—drafted a text that was formally adopted by the IAU Administrative Board at its 94th Meeting, hosted by the University of Rwanda in Kigali in October 2025.
