Highlights from UM6P (Morocco) - May 2026

1) RD20 Summer School Brings Global Expertise to Africa’s Energy Transition

From 17 to 23 May 2026, UM6P hosted the fourth edition of the RD20 Summer School under the theme “Decarbonizing the Fertilizer Value Chain: Pathways from Innovation to Industrial Transformation.” The event brought together approximately 100 participants from Africa, Europe, Asia, North America, and the Middle East, including researchers, policymakers, industry experts, and institutional representatives. As the first RD20 Summer School organized on the African continent, the initiative represented a significant milestone in strengthening international scientific cooperation around energy transition and industrial decarbonization. By fostering dialogue among leading experts and emerging researchers, the Summer School provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, capacity building, and the development of innovative solutions to global sustainability challenges.

2) UM6P Hosts International Research Community Through HBES 2026

From 13 to 16 May 2026, UM6P welcomed researchers and students from around the world during the 37th Annual Human Behavior and Evolution Society (HBES) Conference, hosted by the Africa Institute for Research in Economics and Social Sciences (AIRESS). The conference gathered internationally recognized scholars working on topics related to human behavior, cultural evolution, social learning, cognition, and interdisciplinary research methodologies. Through keynote lectures, thematic sessions, and scientific discussions, participants exchanged knowledge and explored emerging research questions from multiple disciplines. By hosting a conference of this scale, UM6P continues to strengthen its position as an international hub for scientific dialogue and interdisciplinary collaboration, while providing students and researchers with direct access to global academic networks
