UNOCD

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is a global leader in the fight against illicit drugs and international crime and is responsible for implementing the United Nations lead programme on terrorism. UNODC also works to improve crime prevention and assist with criminal justice reform in order to strengthen the rule of law, promote stable and viable criminal justice systems and combat the growing threats of transnational organised crime and corruption. UNODC’s Education for Justice (E4J) initiative, seeks to prevent crime and promote the rule of law through education activities designed for primary, secondary and tertiary levels. These activities help educators teach the next generation to better understand and address problems that can undermine the rule of law and encourage students to actively engage in their communities and future professions in this regard.

IAU is involved in the Education for Justice (E4J) initiative which seeks to prevent crime and promote a culture of lawfulness through education activities for primary, secondary and tertiary levels.

As part of this initiative, IAU took part in the first episode of a new podcast series ’Voices of Academia’ dedicated to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and higher education (September 2020). Most recently, IAU participated in the workshop on ’Developing transformational partnerships to catalyze SDGs implementation’ co-organised by UNODC in the context of the 2020 UN HLPF (online).
