Universities, Open Science, and the Free Flow of Knowledge
The IAU is pleased to announce the release of the new IAU Position Paper: Universities, Open Science, and the Free Flow of Knowledge. The IAU adopted this position paper at the IAU 17th General Conference on 4 November 2026.
Informed by the 2025 IAU report Open Science: The Challenge for Universities, the IAU Executive Committee established a drafting group composed of Administrative Board members to prepare an IAU Position Paper on Open Science. The aim of this position paper is to reaffirm the importance of this agenda while acknowledging the diverse contexts in which universities operate.
