Andreas Corcoran, PhD.
Deputy Secretary General
Andreas Corcoran is Deputy Secretary General of the International Association of Universities (IAU). As a keen believer in the transformative power of higher education, Andreas leads IAU’s work on values-based leadership, the Executive Leadership Programme (ELP), the World Higher Education Database (WHED), and contributes to the IAU’s strategic and institutional development. Prior to joining the IAU, he was Director of Higher Education at SOFIA in Rome, leading on the academic and institutional development, strategy, and governance of Jordan University College in Tanzania. He has worked for the University of Kent in the UK, the Federal Chancellor Willy Brandt Foundation, and the German Historical Museum in Berlin. Andreas has written and lectured on higher education management, university history, and epistemic culture. Having studied in Berlin, Rome, and London, he holds a PhD in intellectual history from the European University Institute in Florence and a Masters from Trinity College Dublin.
